Family History

James George Hibbard was born in 1879 at Mansfield, he was the son of Robert Taylor Hibbard an iron moulder and Elizabeth Hibbard née Stubbings of 4 Vallances Yard, Mansfield. His father Robert Taylor was born in 1846 at Mansfield, he died in 1913 at Mansfield aged 67 yrs his mother Elizabeth Stubbings was also born in 1846 at Mansfield, they were married on 19th June 1865 at The Ridings, Derbyshire, they went on to have 10 children. James George married Emma Scott (10th April 1882) in 1903 at Mansfield, they lived at 37 Gladstone Street, Mansfield and had the following children, Alice born 23rd May 1903, Amy born 14th November 1906, Arthur born 10t May 1911and James born 2nd September 1913. . In the 1911 census the family are living at 52 Heywood Street, Mansfield, James George 32 yrs is an iron moulder, he is living with his wife Emma 28 yrs and their children, Alice 7 yrs, Amy 4 yrs Commencing 15th January 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 22 shillings and 6 pence a week.

Military History

Private James George Hibbard enlisted at Mansfield, he served with the 11th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he landed in France on 27th August 1915, he was killed in action 30th June 1916, aged 37.he is buried: at Blighty Valley Cemetery, Authuille Wood, France. Plot 2. Row B. Grave 6.
