Josiah Taylor

Josiah was born in Radford in 1885 and was the son of James a gas stoker and Lydia Taylor née Bradley, 6 Beresford Street, Radford, his father James was born in 1847 in Draycott Derbyshire and his mother Lydia Bradley was born in 1855 in Manchester, they were married in 1876 , their marriage was recorded in the Nottingham Registration District. He was married to his wife Cissie Hart on 17th September 1904 at the Nottingham Registry Office Taylor, they went on to have 5 children , Leslie born 25th June 1905 at 23 Smiths Yard, Nottingham, Elsie May born 2nd October 1909 at 16 Dulwich Road, Nottingham, Cissie born 22nd January 1911 also at 16 Dulwich road, Nottingham, Nellie born 14th February 1913 at 9 Hague Terrace, Hague Street, Nottingham and Marjorie born 1915 in Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family are living at 16 Dulwich Road, Radford and are shown as Josiah 26 years a coal miner , he is living with his wife Cissie 24 yrs and their children, Leslie 6 yrs, Elsie May 2 yrs and Cissie 2 months of age. Following Josiah death his widow Cissie lived with Mrs Hurst at 29 Bromley Place, Angel Row, Nottingham; His widow was sent a letter from the War Office dated 27th July 1915 informing her she would be paid a pension of 24 shillings and six pence a week in respect of herself and her 5 children, to be commence on 26th July 1915. After Josiah's death , his widow Cissie remarried on 22nd July 1918 to James West, they lived at 13 Dursley Terrace, Randal Street,Hyson Green, Nottingham.
