Family History

He was the son of George Wilson, a tram driver, and Harriet Warrener who lived at 13 Kirkwhite Street, The Meadows, Nottingham, in 1901 and 88 Kirkwhite Street in 1911. He was the brother of Annie Elizabeth, Nellie, Harry, Florence, Winnie and William Arthur Warrener. His father predeceased him.

Military History

Private George Warrener, enlisted in Nottingham and served with the 2nd Battalion Grenadier Guards. He landed in France on 6th October 1914 and was killed in action on 25th September 1916 he is buried in the Guards' Cemetery, Lesboeufs (grave ref. I.B.8)

Nottingham Post notice (abridged), 18 October 1916: 'Warreer. Killed in action September 25th, Private George Warrener, Grenadier Guards, late of Nottingham City Police Force, eldest son of the late George Wilson Warrener and Mrs Warrener, formerly of Shelton Street.'
