Ernest Seston

Pte Ernest Seston Worksop Guardian 17 November 1916 News has been received that Pte, Ernest Seston, Sherwood Foresters, who, during the greater part of his life, lived with his cousin, Mrs F. Watkinson, 183, Kilton Road, Worksop, had died of wounds received in action. Being left alone at a very early age, Pte, Seston was taken into the Abbeyhurst Boys Home, where on leaving , being offered various occupations, elected to join the Navy for a number of years, and was sent into training. He joined the Army in August, 1914, and was eleven months in training, subsequently taking part in the Dardanelles, fighting and the landing at Sulva Bay, where he was wounded. Just before Christmas last year he landed in France, and since then he never was able to come over again. He died on November 2nd in the early morning, and was buried on the following day. A nursing sister writes that he did not suffer long before the end came. He has a sister living at Rotherham. Many Worksop people will recall the young soldier, as he was well known in the town. He would have been 23 next February.
