Family History

Percy Arthur Eccleston was born in 1884 Worksop. His parents, George and Louisa Eccleston had 9 children, (all born in Worksop), Percy being the 6th. The family lived on Sparken Hill and later at Brooke Terrace. George supported his family by working as a carpenter/joiner. As Percy grew up he took the trade of a plumber and in 1907, he married a Lincolnshire girl, Sarah Clark, in Horncastle and then the couple set up home at 57 Gateford Road, Worksop. They had a daughter, Queenie in 1912. After the war and the death of Percy, Sarah married John Swanwick in 1919.

Enlisted at Worksop, killed in action in France and commemorated on Philosophe British Cemetery, Mazingarbe, France
