He was the son of Henry and Mary Tatham of 3 Gladstone Street Gordon Road Nottingham. (Cwgc) Although he is shown on the CWGC as the son of Henry and Mary Tatham he appears on the 1911 census, living at 3 Gladstone Street, Gordon Road, he is using the name George Leslie Kirk, he is 16 yrs of age and is an etcher, he is living with Henry Tatham 52 yrs a lace maker born Nottingham, and Mary Anne Tatham 55 yrs born 1856 Buckinghamshire, their relationship is that of uncle and aunt to George, they state they have been married 29 yrs and have had no children. Also living with them is a niece Sophia Kirk 38 yrs a surgical appliance machinist. In the 1901 census the family are living at 3 Gladstone Street, he is shown as George L. K. Tatham 6 yrs of age, his adopted parents are Henry and Mary Anne Taham. His pension record card where he is shown as George Leslie Tatham states that Mary Ann Tatham is his foster mother.
Private George Leslie Tatham enlisted at Nottingham, served with 10th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he died on 21st August 1918 and is buried at St. Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France. Q. 4. I. 8.
