Harold Dixon Buxton was the son of John a drapers porter and his fist wife the late Rebecca Buxton. His father John was born in 1875 at Nottingham, his late mother Rebecca was born in 1872 she died in 1907 aged 35 yrs they had a further child Doris born in 1903 at Nottingham. His father later re married Gertrude Alice Oldershaw born 1882 at Burton Staffordshire, in 1907 at Nottingham. In the 1911 census the family lived at 124 Flewitt Street Alfreton Road Nottingham. they are shown as John 36 yrs a drapers porter , he is living with his wife Gertrude Alice 29 yrs and his children, Harold 12 yrs a scholar and Doris 8 yrs , John states he has been married for 4 yrs and has had 2 children.

Military History

Private Harold Dixon Buxton enlisted at Nottingham he served with the 22nd (Tyneside Scottish) battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. He died of wounds on 20th September 1918 whilst a prisoner of war, he is buried at Berlin South West Cemetery, Germany.
