Joseph Fenton

Joseph Fenton (junior) was born in 1894 at Stone Clough, Lancashire, and was the son of Joseph Fenton (senior) an engine driver and the late Mary Hannah Fenton nee Butler, His father Joseph Fenton (senior) was born in 1864 at Huddersfield, his mother Mary Butler was born in 1865, she died in 1910 at Mansfield aged 45 yrs, they were married in 1889 in Lancashire and went on to have the following children, John b1889 Oldham, Thomas b1890 Oldham, Paul b1892 Mosley, Lancs, Amy b1897 Pendleton, Lancs, Louise b 1900 Morecombe, Lancs, Francis b1902 Morecombe, and Mary b1908 Mansfield. In the 1911 census the family are living at 11 Bowling Street, Mansfield and are shown as Joseph Fenton 47 yrs a widow and an engine driver he is living with his children, Paul 19 yrs a cleaner at Crown Colliery, Amy 14 yrs a printer in tin factory, Louise 11 yrs a scholar, Francis 9 yrs a scholar, and Mary 3 yrs of age. In the same 1911 census Joseph Fenton (junior) has left the family home and is lodging at 152 Warsop Vale. he is shown as being 17 yrs a coal miner pony driver (underground) he is living with Thomas Harby 57 yrs a collier and his family.
