Family History

William Heath Dunn was born in 1896 at Selston and was the son of Henry William Dunn a locomotive engine driver and the late Rebecca Dunn née Heath of Skegness, Selston, His father Henry William Dunn was born in 1852 in London and his mother Rebecca Heath was born in 1856 at Annesly, they were married in 1878, their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have the following children, Henry Wiilliam b1880. John George b1881, Ethel b1884, Joseph b1893. Charles Foster b1894 and William Heath Dunn b1896, all were born in Selston. His mother Rebecca appears to have died prior to 1901 because his father is shown as a widow on the 1901 census. In the 1911 census the family were living at Skegness Selston and were shown as Henry William Dunn 59 yrs a locomotive engine driver, he is living with his children, Ethel 27 yrs a house keeper, Charles Foster 17 yrs a colliery banksman and William Heath 15 yrs a grocers shop assistant.

Military History

Private Wiliam Heath Dunn enlisted at Mansfield, Nottinghamshire. He was killed killed in action, 7th April 1917, during the attack at Le Verguier, north-west of Saint Quentin, France. He is buried at Vadencourt British Cemetery, Maissemy, France. Plot 2. Row A. Grave 48.
