George Henry Pilgrim

George Henry Pilgrim was born on 6th June 1888 at Langford Moor near Newark and was the son of a Tom Richard a roadman and Emily Pilgrim, née Elston of Langford Moor, Newark. His father Tom Richard was born in 1861 at Langford and his mother Emily Elston was born in 1868 at North Wheatley, they were married in 1888 their marriage was recorded in the Newark Registration district, they went on to have the following children, George Henry b1888 Langford, William b1890 North Wheatley, Edith b1896 Brough, Olive Ruth b1900 Brough, Robert Edward b1903 Langford, Elsie Maud b 1905 Langford, Alice Ivy b1908 Langford and Kathleen Mary b1910 Langford. In the 1911 census his parents and siblings are living at Langford Moor, Newark and are shown as Tom Richard 50 yrs a roadman, he is living with his wife Emily 43 yrs and their children, Olive Ruth 11 yrs a scholar, Robert Edward 8 yrs a scholar, Elsie Maud 6 yrs a scholar, Alice Ivy 3 yrs and Kathleen Mary 1 year of age. In the same 1911 census George Henry has left home , he is shown as being 22 yrs and single, a domestic gardener, he is a boarder at The Garden Bothy, Tatton Park, Knutsford he is living with 4 other domestic gardeners at this address and is shown as Henry Pilgrim. His probate was proven on 9th August 1918 in London, it shows him as George Henry Pilgrim of Danethorpe, South Collingham, Nottinghamshire, died 27th March 1918 in France, his effects of £130, 0 shillings and 10 pence were left to Tom Richard Pilgrim a labourer (father)
