John Harry Gibson was born in 1899 at Grimsby and was the son of George a farm labourer and Ada Gibson née Gregson of 18 Tomlinson Yard, Castle Gate, Newark. His father George was born in 1876 at Milthorpe, Lincolnshire and his mother Ada Gregson was born in 1878 at North Selsey, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1897 their marriage was recorded in the Caistor registration district, they went on to have the following children, Irene b1898 Grimsby, John Harry b1899 Grimsby, Cyril b1902 Grimsby, Herbert b1903 Storo Green, Lincolnshire, Hilda b1907 Stor Green and Wilfred b1910 Storo Green. In the 1911 census the family are living at Corby Heath Grantham and are shown as George 35 yrs a farm labourer, he is living with his wife Ada 33 yrs and their children Irene 13 yrs a scholar, Harry 11 yrs a scholar, Cyril 9 yrs a scholar, Herbert 8 yrs a scholar, Hilda 4 yrs and Wilfred 11 months of age

Military History

Private John Harry Gibson enlisted at Grantham whilst residing at Claypole, he served with the 2nd battalion Alexandra Prince of Wales's Own (Yorkshire Regiment) He was killed in action on 25th April 1918 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial, Zonnebeke, Belgium.
