Harry Wilson was born on 22nd March 1889 in the Wakefield area and was baptised on 5th May 1889 at St Mary's Church, Beeston, Leeds, Yorkshire and was the son of Edward a coal miner and Mary Ann Wilson née Sheard of 8 Third Avenue Forest Town. His father Edward Wilson was born in 1862 in Leeds area and his mother Mary Ann Sheard was born in 1861 also in Leeds area, they were married in 1887 their marriage was recorded in the Leeds Registration District, they went on to have 5 children, sadly three were to die in infancy or early childhood, their remaining surviving children were Harry b1889 and Clara b1891 also at Wakefield. In the 1911 census the family are living at 8 Third Avenue, Forest Town, Mansfield and are shown as Edward 49 yrs a coal miner, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 50 yrs and their children , Harry 22 yrs a coal miner and Clara 20 yrs no occupation listed.

Military History

Private Harry Wilson enlisted on 18th December 1915 at Mansfield he was aged 26 years and 272 days. He Served with the 4th reserve battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He died at the VAD Hospital at Louth and is buried in St Albans Churchyard Forest Town, Mansfield.
