Edward Henry Jackson was born in 1897 at East Leake and was the son of Edward a basket maker and Mary Ann Jackson née Morris of Castle Hill East Leake. His father was born in 1866 at Kensworth, Hertfordshire, his mother Mary Ann Morris was born in 1873 at the Riddings Derbyshire, they were married in 1889 their marriage was recorded at the Basford registration district, they went on to have the following children, John Alfred b1891 Basford, William b1893 Bulwell, Elsie May b1894 Bulwell, Shadrack b1895 Nottingham, Edward Henry b1897 East Leake and Joseph b1901 East Leake, In the 19011 census the family are living at Main Street, East Leake and are shown as Edward 43 yrs a basket maker, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 38 yrs and their children, John Alfred 20 yrs a plaster dresser, William 18 yrs a farm labourer, Elsie May 17 yrs a basket maker, Shadrack 16 yrs a plaster gypsum pit worker, Edward 14 yrs a worker at wicker works and Joseph 10 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Private Edward Henry Jackson, enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 15th Battalion Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire Regiment, he was killed in action on 13th July 1917. He is buried in Villers-Faucon Communal Cemetery.Grave Reference: C 10
