Thomas was born in 1893 at West Stockwith, the son of Alfred a chemical works labourer and Annie Bramhill (nee Temperton) He had 5 siblings ;- Ada born 1881,John born 1884,Florence born 1890, Alfred born 1897 and Myrtle born 1900. In the 1911 census he is living with his brother at 32 Crossland Street,Swinton,Rotherham he is 17 years of age and he works as a carter. He married his wife Gertrude Beaumont on 24th November 1915 at Rotherham, they had two sons Henry Beaumont born 2nd July 1908 and Thomas born 10th January 1917 in Swinton, Rotherham. After he had died his wife was granted a pension of 25 shillings and 5 pence a week to commence on 9th May 1919.
He attested on 11th December 1915 at Mexborough into the Yorks and Lancaster Regiment with service number 44844. He gave his age as 22 years and 8 months and his occupation as a trammer at coal pit. His next of kin was his wife Gertrude and their address was 58 Crossland Street, Swinton. He was mobilised on 27th August 1917 and on 2nd January 1918 arrived in France where he was transferred to the 20th Battalion Durham Light Infantry. He was killed in action on 4th November 1918 and is buried in the Vichte Military Cemetery ,Belgium
