Albert Ledger was born in 1896 at Eastwood and was the son of Samuel a colliery loader and Hannah Ledger née Rowley of 33 Jubilee Street Kimberley Nottinghamshire. His father Samuel Trueman Ledger was born in 1856 at Nottingham, he was originally married to Jane Darby 1853-1883, he married his second wife Hannah Rowley (b1865 Awsworth) in 1920 their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, their children born beore they were married were Samuel Ledger Rowley b1892 Nottingham, Albert Leger Rowley b1896 Eastwood, Mabel Ledger Rowley b1908 Kimberley and Harry Ledger Rowley b1910 Kimberley. In the 1911 census the family are living at Jubilee Street, Kimberley and are shown as Samuel Ledger 51 yrs a colliery loader he is living with his wife Hannah Ledger 43 yrs and their children, Samuel Ledger 18 yrs a colliery loader, Albert Ledger 15 yrs a colliery ganger, Mabel Ledger 3 yrs and Harry Ledger 1 year old.

Military History

Private Albert Ledger enlisted at Ilkeston, he served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment and died of wounds on 4th June 1918 he is buried at Mont Huon Military Cemetery, Le-Treport, France. .
