Family History

Richard Webster Jardine was born in 1875 he was the son of the late William and Anne Jardine née Moss.William was born in 1825 at Nottingham, he died in 1883 at Scarborough, he was 59 yrs of age. Anne Moss was born in 1843 at Collingham, Lincolnshire they were married in 1878 at Scarborough. In 1911 his widowed mother Anne Jardine is 68 yrs and is a housekeeper, she is living at Holme Farm at Bingham with Robert Brown 71 yrs a farmer.

Military History

Richard Webster Jardine initially served wit the service number 5195 in the Wiltshire Regiment where he gained the rank of company sergeant major. He landed in France on 5th December 1915 he was commissioned into the Loyal North Lancashire Regiment on 5th March 1916. He was killed in action on 23rd July 1916 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial , Somme, France.
