Stendall Lowe was born in 1876 at Greasley he was the son of William Lowe a farmer and Rebecca Lowe née Stendell of Grange Fields, Eastwood, William Lowe was born in 1825 at Greasley, Rebecca Stendall was born in 1824 at Sutton in Ashfield, they were married on 20th September 1853 at Sutton in Ashfield, they went on to have children, Rebecca born 1857 , Martha born 1859 and Stendall born 1876 In the 1891 census the family are living at Grange Fields, Eastwood and are shown as William Lowe 66 yrs a farmer, he is living with his wife Rebecca Lowe 67 yrs and their children, Rebecca Shacklock 34 yrs and Stendall Lowe 15 yrs. In the 1911 census we find the family still at Grange Fields, Eastwood, Rebecca Lowe now using the name Shacklock is 53 yrs of age and is a farmer, she is living with her son Stendall Shacklock 35 yrs a farmer.

Military History

Private Stendall Lowe enlisted at Derby, he served with the 16th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he went missing in action between 8th and 10th October 1916 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial.
