Albert Wilson was born in 1883 at Keyworth and was the son of John a frame work knitter and Ann Stevenson née Stevenson of Selby Lane, Keyworth His father John was born in 1856 at Keyworth and his mother Ann Stevenson was born in 1854 at Wysall , they were married in 1873 at Keyworth their marriage was recorded in the Bingham Registration District, they went on to have the following children, John b1882, Albert b1883, Arthur b1885, Fanny b1886, Mary b1889, James b1890, and Percy b1892 all were born in Keyworth. His mother Ann died in 1900 aged 45 yrs Hs father remarried in 1901 to Eliza Ann Simpson In the 1911 census Albert's parents are living at Selby Lane, Keyworth and are shown as John 55 yrs a framework knitter, he is living with his wife Eliza Ann 54 yrs and his children, Arthur 25 yrs a warehouse man and James 20 yrs a brick layers labourer.

Military History

Albert enlisted at Derby and served in the 9th Battalion, 16th Battalion and again in 9th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Notts & Derby Regiment). He was killed in action during the Battle of the Sambre, when after taking the town of Sebourg, the battalion pushed on and were caught in vicious machine gun fire. Thirty Five men including Albert died and are buried in the small battlefield cemetery above Sebourg. This was the last action of the 9th Battalion in World War One.
