Henry William Richards was born in 1893 at Keyworth and was the son of Arthur a frame work knitter and Emma Richards née Boulton of Nottingham Road, Keyworth,Notts His father Arthur was born in 1862 at Keyworth and his mother Emma Boulton was born in 1861 also at Keyworth, they were married in 1885 their marriage was recorded in the Bingham registration district, they went on to have the following children, Mabel b1885, Ruth b1887, Florence b1888 and Henry William b1893 all were born in Keyworth. In the 1911 census the family are living at Keyworth and are shown as Arthur 48 yrs a frame work knitter, he is living with his wife Emma 50 yrs and their children, Ruth 24 yrs a hosiery hand and Henry William 18 yrs a hosiery hand.

Military History

Private Henry William Richards enlisted at Keyworth, he served with the 15th battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment, he was killed in action on 29th September 1918, having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Tyne Cot Memorial Panel 99 to 102, and 162 to 162A
