Family History

John Arthur Randall was born in 1889 the son of Thomas and Martha Archer. Thomas was a farmer. The family was living at Lambley Park Lane on the 1891 Census. John A R was one of seven children. By the 1901 Census the family had increased to ten children and they were living at Willow Grange, Park Lane, Lambley. The family was still at Willow Grange in 1911. Arthur was at home as were two older sisters and an older brother plus two younger brothers and a sister. There had originally been twelve children but two had previously died. At the time of John's death his parents' home address was South Glade Farm, Bestwood Park, Bulwell, Nottingham.

Military History

Arthur enlisted at Lambley in the 8th Battalion Sherwood Foresters with service number 1914. This later changed to 305303. He was latterly in the 16th Battalion Royal Warwickshire Regiment. He died whilst serving in France and is buried in St Sever Cemetery Extension, Rouen, France. He was eligible for the Victory and British War medals
