Family History

Leonard Henry was born in 1896 the son of Henry a farm labourer and Mary Hickman (née Sansom). Henry was born in 1863 in Scarrington, Mary Sansom 1875 at Bingham. Married in 1882, they had three children, Leonard and Henry (1899) surviving infancy. In 1911, they lived at Long Acres, Bingham.

Military History

Private Leonard Henry Hickman enlisted at Mansfield, he served with the 7th battalion King's Rifle Corps and landed in France on 19th May 1915. He was killed in action on 30th July 1915, having no known grave his name is commemorated on Menin Gate memorial, Ypres, Panel 51 and 53
