Arthur was born in Smethwick, Staffordshire the son of William and Eliza Matsell, of Pot Row, Grimston, King's Lynn. He was residing in Kings Lynn Norfolk at the time he enlisted in Derby. We are as yet unaware of his connection to Daybrook.
Military History
He enlisted in Derby and served with the 9th Battalion, Sherwood Foresters and was killed in action on 3rd October 1918
