He was the son of Joseph Alfred and Sarah Ann Simpson and the brother of Joanna, Rose, Lily Victoria and Made Adelaide Simpson. In 1911 they lived at 26 St Paul's Avenue Hyson Green Nottingham. He was the husband of Hannah (née Brentnall) Simpson and the father of William and Marie Simpson. At the time of Charles's death they lived at 3 St Paul's Terrace Radford Nottingham.
