Family History

Percival Frederick (born Frederick Percival ) Keightley was born in 1877 at Sileby and was the son of Frederick Keightley a farmer and his wife Mary Ann Keightley nee Cooper. His father Frederick was born in 1844 in Thorpe Arche, Loughborough and his mother Mary Ann Cooper was born in 1849 in Sileby, they were married in 1868 their marriage was recorded in the Barrow upon Soar registration district, they went on to have the following children, Helen b1870, Edith Emma b1871, Gertrude b1873, Hilda Ann b1880, Edward b1884 and George b1886. Percival Frederick married Mary Jane Cross b1874 Upper Broughton in 1903, their marriage was recorded in the Melton Mowbray registration district, they went on to have a daughter Hilda May b1907 at West Bridgford. In the 1911 census the family are living at Normanton Road, East Leake and are shown as Percival Frederick Keightley 37 yrs a farm labourer, he is living with his wife Mary Jane 37 yrs and their daughter Hilda May 4 years.

Military History

Private Percival Frederick Keightley enlisted at Loughborough whilst residing at West Leake. He served with the 2nd battalion Leicestershire Regiment. He landed in France with his battalion on 19th March 1915. He was killed in action on 15th May 1915 and is buried at Guards Cemetery Windy Corner Cuinchy
