Thomas Joseph Wilford Weld was born on 10th March 1893 and was the son of Wilfred Joseph Weld and Jessie Weld née Macdonald of Orchard Lodge, Avon Dassett, Leamington, Warwickshire. His father Wilfred Joseph was born in Yorkshire in 1850 and his mother Jessie Macdonald was born in 1867 in Scotland. They were married in 1890 and had the following children, Janet Margaret Mary b1891, Thomas Joseph Wilfred b1893, Mary Flora b1895, Frances Mary b1902 and Joseph William b1901. In the 1911 census Thomas is a boarder at Catholic College, Edge Hill, Wimbledon, he is shown as being 18 yrs single and an army student. In the same 1911 census his family are living at Orchard Lodge, Avon Dasssett, and are shown as Wilfred Joseph 61 yrs , living on his own means, he is living with his wife Jessie 44 yrs and their children, Janet Margaret Mary 20 yrs, Frances Mary 8 yrs and Joseph William 1 year old, they are employing 2 servants. Thomas's probate was proven on 17th March 1919 in London. It shows him as Thomas Joseph Weld of Orchard Lodge, Avon Dassett, Warwickshire, Captain in the 2/2nd battalion King's African Rifles, died 18th November 1918 at the British Hospital, Nairobi. Administraiton awarded to his father Wilfred Joseph Weld, esquire. His effects valued at £749 14 shillings and 6 pence.
