Charles Hugh Ellwood was born in 1887 he was the son of Colonel Arthur Ellwood a farmer and Caroline Ellwood née Addison and the brother of Arthur and Phoebe Ellwood. Arthur was born in 1849 at Mareham Le Fen, he died in 1915 aged 64 , Caroline Addison was born in 1847 at Hogthorpe, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1878 at Horncasltle, they had 3 childrenIn 1911 the family lived at Manor House Mareham Le Fen Boston Lincolnshire, Arthur 62 yrs is a farmer, he is living with his wife Caroline 64 yrs and his sons Arthur Addison 25 yrs a farmer and Charles Hugh 23 yrs a farmer.

Military History

Lieutenant Charles Hugh Ellwood, was commissioned a Second Lieutenant on 17th June 1911 he served with the 4th battalion Lincolnshire Regiment and was killed in action on 1st June 1915 he is buried at Dranouter Churchyard, Belgium.
