George Walter Allcock was born in 1891 at Eastwood he was the son of the late George a boot & furniture dealer and Louisa Allcock née Fryer of 29 Queen Street Eastwood Nottingahmshire. George Allcock was born in 1859 at Moorgreen, he died in 1902 aged 43 yrs, Louisa Fryer was born in 1864 at Southwell they were married in 1888 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration district, they had 4 children. In 1911 the family are living at 29 Queens Street, Eastwood, Louisa 47 yrs is a widow, she is living with her 4 children including George Walter 20 yrs a sho assistant and boot repairer

Military History

Private George Walter Allcock enlisted at Nottingham in November 1915 and became attached to the Transport Section of the anti-aircraft service being stationed at Woolwich and later Wakefield, Scarborough and London again. On March 12th 1917 he was transferred to the Motor Transport Section and drafted to Mesopotamia where he died as a result of dysentery on 3rd July 1917 having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Basra Memorial, Iraq.
