Family History

Alexander was baptised on 17th May 1891 at Caistor. He was the son of Francis Alsop Rogers a hotel proprietor and Emily Rogers. Francis and Emily had 5 children , Ethel Elizabeth, Sidney, Frank, Harry and Alexander. Francis ran the Red Lion Hotel in Caistor until his death in 1898 and his wife Emily then took it over. By the 1911 census Emily is still a hotel proprietor but is living at 36 Albert Street Brigg with only her son Alexander. Alexander's effects of £415. 13 shillings and 3 pence were left to his brother Harry Rogers a bank clerk (Probate 9/12/1916 London).

Military History

Alexander enlisted at Scunthorpe whilst he was residing at Brigg . At first he served with the Royal Fusiliers (1899) but later served with the 12th battalion Middlesex Regiment. He was killed in action at Thiepval on 26th September.
