J. E. Pendleton) decorated Corpl. E. L. Holmes, R.A.M.C., with the military medal which was recently awarded him for long service and bravery. Corpl. Holmes, who is native of the city and whose home is 206, Sherwood street, enlisted when the war broke out and received his decoration for gallantry in rescuing wounded under heavy fire. “The Mayor warmly congratulated Holmes upon the distinction he had gained, observing that he was a credit to the city, and would always have the pleasant reflection that he had faithfully served his country in her time of peril. His Worship expressed the hope that the Corporal would be spared to live a long and useful life, and the Sheriff (Coun. R. H. Swain) also extended his congratulations to Corpl.
