Edward Whitehead

Edward Whitehead was born in 1880 at Green Hill Lane, Derbyshire and was the son of the late Henry Whitehead a farm labourer and Sarah Whitehead née Barks. His father Henry was born in 1853 at Edwinstowe, he died in 1912 at Mansfield aged 59 yrs, his mother Sarah Barks was born in 1858 at Riddings, Derbyshire, she died in 1900 at Mansfield aged 42 yrs they were married in 1877 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registration area. They had the following children, Alfred b1879, Edward b1880, Thomas b1882, Mary b1885, Emma b1888 and Hannah b1889. Edward married his wife Ada Hancock born 6th April 1880 before 1904 they lived at the Boat Inn, Pinxton Wharf, Alfreton and had the following children, Ernest born 18th October 1904, Jesse Violetta born 9th August 1907, Gertie Hancock born 13th August 1909 and George Edward born 4th May 1915. In the 1911 census the family are living at 36 Talbot Street, Pinxton and are shown as Edward Whitehead 31 yrs a coal miner hewer, he is living with his wife Ada 30 yrs and their children, Ernest 6 yrs, Jessie Violetta 3 yrs and Gertie Hancock 1 year of age.
