Family History

Wilfred Hardwick was born in 1892 he was the son of Thomas a jobbing gardener and the late Ann Hardwick née Mellors of 4 Coxton Terrace, Mansfield. Thomas was born in 1857 at Pleasley, Ann Mellors was born in 1859 she died in 1895 aged 36 yrs they were married in 1879 at Mansfield, they had 6 children. In 1911 the family were living at 4 Coxton Terrace, Mansfield, Thomas 54 yrs a jobbing gardener is living with 4 of his children including Wilfred 19 yrs a domestic gardener Wilfred married Gertrude Elizabeth Hopkinson 9born 15th November 1895) on 24th June 1916 at St Peters Church, Mansfield they lived at 114 Broxtowe Drive, Manfield, Commencing 25th April 1917 his widow was awarded a pension of 13 shillings and 9 pence a week.

Military History

Private Wilfred Hardwick enlisted at Mansfield, he served with the 1/4th battalion Northumberland Fusiliers. He was killed in action on 13th November 1916 and is buried at Warlencourt British Cemetery, Pas De Calais.
