Milson George Burgess was baptised on 26th March 1893 at Longparish, Hampshire, he was the son of John Burgess a general labourer and Eliza of 25 Cromwell Terrace, Littleworth, Mansfield. His father John was born in 1850 at Woburn, Bedfordshire, his mother Eliza was born in 1861 at Coleford, Gloucester, they were married C1883, they had 10 children, sadly 3 were to die in infancy or early childhood. In the 1911 census the family are living at 75 Littleworth, Mansfield, John 61 yrs is a general labourer he is living with his wife Eliza 50 yrs and three of their children, Laviah 20 yrs a hosiery mender, Eva 16 yrs a hosiery mender and Maurice 13 yrs a scholar.

Military History

Private Milson George Burgess enlisted at Mansfield whilst residing at Mansfield, he served with the 10th battalion The Prince of Wales’s Own Hussars. He died of wounds on 20th November 1914, he is buried in Bouglogne Eastern Cemetery, France.
