George Wilson was born in 1883 at Gedling the son of John a stud groom and Julia Wilson née Dove of the Kennels, Gedling, Nottingham. John was born in 1851 at Spilsby, Lincolnshire, Julia Dove was born in 1859 at Langar, married in 1880 at Nottingham they had 2 further children, Charles b1881 and Reginald b 1897. George married Elizabeth Muriel Brewster (born 8th May 1882 ) in 1904 their marriage was recorded in the Southwell registrate district, they had 2 daughters, Gladys Annie born 18th January 1906 and Phyllis Muriel born 7th May 1911 In 1911 he lived at Badmington , Gloucester he is shown as being 28 yrs and is a groom, he is living with his wife Elizabeth Muriel 28 yrs and their daughter Gladys Annie 5 yrs. In 1911 his parents are living at The Kennels, Gedling his father John 60 yrs is a stud groom. Commencing 21st April 1919 his widow was awarded a pension of 20 shillings and 5 pence a week.

Military History

Private George Wilson enlisted at Lincoln, he initially served with the service number 50448 in the Lincolnshire Regiment. He died of wounds on 1st October 1918 and is buried at Brie British Cemetery, Somme, France.
