Family History

A son of Arthur & Caroline Allitt and a brother to Ellen Allitt and James A Allitt. He was born 1899 at Carlton. In 1901 the family were living at Ouse Bridge in Carlton near the Royal Oak. By the 1911 census the family had moved to 1 Chatsworth Ave Carlton. He was still at school in 1911. The Commonwealth War Graves site states that his parents and sister were living at Myrtle Cottages, Priory Rd Gedling when he died.

Military History

Enlisted at Nottingham. Previously of the Training Reserve Battalion Durham Light Infantry TR5/66505 according to his medal card.He died of wounds and is buried in All Hallows Gedling churchyard. He was eligible for the British & Victory medals.
