Frederick Vickers

Frederick Vickers was born in 1880 at Dronfield, Derbyshire and was the son of George Barker Vickers a retired grocer and Susanah Vickers née Storr of Eckington, Sheffield; His father George Barker Vickers was born in 1853 in Derbyshire and his mother Susanna Storr was born in 1851 at Long Sutton, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1874 their marriage was recorded in the Sheffield Registration district, they had 13 children, however sadly 1 died in infancy or early childhood. In the 1911 census the family are living at 99 High Street, Eckington, Sheffield and are shown as George Barker Vickers a retired grocer, he is living with hsis wife Susanna 60 yrs and their children, Gertrude 23 yrs a drapers assistant and Hedley Wilson 21 yrs a chemists assistant. In the same 1911 census Frederick Vickers is a visitor at 49 Newstead Colliery village, Nottinghamshire he is shown as being 31 yrs born Dronfield, Derbyshire and is a commercial traveller (groceries) he is living with the Greensmith family which included his future wife and are shown as Charles Greensmith 54 yrs a colliery deputy, he is living with his wife Elizabeth Greensmith 51 yrs a shop keeper and their daughter, Edna Constance 29 yrs a school teacher, Sibyl Augusta 27 yrs a school teacher and Eunice Amanda 21 yrs a school teacher. Frederick married Sibyl Augusta Greensmith on 5th August 1911 at Annesley, Nottingham, they lived at 19, Balmoral Rd., Nottingham.His probate was proven on 13th July 1917 at Nottingham, it shows him as Frederick Vickers, of Newstead, Nottinghamshire, Temporary Major in H.M. Army died 21st April 1917 in France, his effects of £ 256, 10 shillings and 8 pence were left to Sibyl Vickers widow.
