George Albert Mayfield was baptised on 22nd April 1877 at St Mary's Church, Weeford, Staffordshire the son of the late John and Mary Ann Mayfield née Hawkins of 9 priory Road, Gedling. John Mayfield was born in 1829 at Fiskerton, he died in 1885 at Coddington aged 54 yrs, Mary Ann Hawkins was born in 1847 at Weeford, married on 24th January 1867 at Weeford they went on to have 7 children. In 1911 we find George Albert living at Creswell House , Creswell, Staffordshire, he is one of 7 servants at the Hall working for the owner George Elliott Meakin an earthenware manufacturer, he is shown as being 34 yrs of age single and works as a butler.

Military History

Private George Albert Mayfield enlisted at Bedford, he was killed in action on 15th April 1917 and is buried at Aubigny Communal Cemetery Extension
