Frederick Goodacre was born in 1890 at East Leake and was the son of the late Edwin a plaster miner and Elizabeth Goodacre née Doughty of The Green, East Leake, His father was born in 1853 at East Leake he died in 1913 aged 55 yrs, his mother Elizabeth (Bessie) Doughty was born in 1855 they were married in 1874 their marriage was recorded in the Loughborough registration district, they went on to have 11 children sadly two died in infancy or early childhood, their children were, Horace b1875, William Henry b1877, James Arthur b1881, Samuel Edward b1883, Lionel Lewis b1886, Fred b1890, Richard b1892, Sarah Jane b1895 and Harry b1897 all were born in East Leake. In the 1911 census the family are living at East Leake and are shown as Edwin 58 yrs a plaster miner, he was living with his wife Elizabeth 56 yrs and their children James Arthur 30 yrs labourer, Samuel Edward 28 yrs a plaster miner, Lionel Lewis 25 yrs and Harry 14 yrs a farm servant.
Lance Corporal Frederick Goodacre enlisted at Loughborough whilst residing at East Leake, he served with the 2nd battalion Leicestershire Regiment and was killed in action on 25th September 1915. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Loos Memorial,
His brother Private Samuel Edward Goodacre, enlisted in Nottingham, he served with the 3rd battalion Grenadier Guards and died between 14-17 Sept 1916. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Thiepval Memorial Pier 8D
