Walter Pacey was born in 1893 at East Bridgford and was the son of Walter a farm labourer and Charlotte Ann Pacey, née Lynn of East Bridgford. His father Walter was born in 1867 at Bathley, Notts and his mother Charlotte Ann Lynn was born in 1867 at Long Bennington, Lincs, they were married in 1886, their marriage was recorded in the Newark Registration District, they went on to have 8 children sadly one died in infancy , their children were ,Annie b1886, Edith b1888, Fanny b1891, Walter b1893, Jessie Gertrude b1899, Arthur b1903 and Alice Mable b1905, all were born in East Bridgford. In the 1911 census the family are residing at East Bridgford and are shown as Walter Pacey 44 yrs a farm labourer, he is living with his wife Charlotte Ann 44 yrs and their children Walter 18 yrs as assistant baker, Jessie Gertrude 12 yrs, Arthur 8 yrs and Alice Mable 6 yrs. Walter married his wife Elizabeth Richards in 1916, their marriage was recorded in the Bingham Registration District. His widow later re married Frederick Marshall in 1919 at Bingham.
Private Walter Pacey initially served with the service number 2389 in the South Notts Hussars. He was serving with the 5th battalion Machine Gun Corps when he died on 25th December 1918 at the Military Hospital at Cairo, Egypt. He is buried in Cairo War Cemetery grave reference Q 219
