William Arthur Wealthall was born in 1899 at Carlton and was the son of Thomas a platelayer and Mary Ann Wealthall née Baker of 65 Foxhall Road, Carlton, Nottingham. His father Thomas was born in 1871 and his mother Mary Ann Baker was also born in 1871 both were born in Carlton, they were married in 1894 their marriage was recorded in the Basford registration district, they went on to have the following children, Lillian Ada b1896, Elizabeth b1897 and William Arthur b1899 all were born at Carlton. In the 1911 census the family were living at 65 Foxhall Road, Carlton and shown as Thomas 40 yrs a platelayer, he is living with his wife Mary Ann 40 yrs and their children, Lillian Ada 15 yrs a rubber winder, Elizabeth 14 yrs a lace mender and William Arthur 11 yrs a scholar.
Private William Arthur Wealthall attested on 31st July 1917 at Nottingham, he gave his address as 65 Foxhall Lane, Carlton Nottingham, his age was 17 yrs and 360 days, he was a french polisher, his next of kin was his father Thomas of the same address. He was posted to the reserves and mobilised for war on 5th October 1917 and reported to the Depot at Derby and posted tot he training reserve. He embarked from Folkstone on 1st April 1918 landing at Boulogne the same day and arrived at Etaples depot where he was posted to the Yorkshire Regiment. He was transferred to the 1/7 battalion Durham Light Infantry on 19th April 1918 and was reported missing in action on 27th May 1918 and later confirmed as killed in action on that date. Having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Soissons Memorial, France.
