Family History

George Harold Walker was born in 1899 at Nottingham and was the son of Noel Felkin Walker a warehouseman clerk and Maria Walker née Berry of Morley Road Thorneywood, Nottingham. His father Noel Felkin was born in 1875 at Nottingham and his mother Maria Berry was born in 1875 at Carlton, they were married on 28th August 1897 at Sneinton and went on to have the following children, George Harold b1899, Edith b1902, Horace Noel b1909 and Vera b1913. In the 1911 census the family are living at Second Ave, Carlton Hill, Nottingham and are shown as Noel Felkin Walker 36 yrs a warehouse clerk in lace manufacturing, he is living with his wife Maria 36 yrs and their children, George Harold 12 yrs a scholar, Edith 9 yrs a scholar and Horace Noel 2yrs of age.

Military History

Private George Harold Walker enlisted at Nottingham whilst residing at Thorneywood, Nottingham, he served with the 2nd battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. He died on 8th September 1918 at the 59th casualty clearing station, France and is buried in Varennes Military Cemetery, Somme, France.
