Family History

Harry Wollacott (Woolacott) was born in 1884 at Lenton and was the son of John Saunders Woolcacott a colliery banksman and Emma Woolacott née Chine of 5 Church Street, Carlton, Nottingham. His father John Saunders was born in 1852 at Winkleigh, Devon and his mother Emma Chine was also born in 1852 at Barnstable, Devon, they were married in 1875 at Barnstable and went on to have the following children, Lucy b1876 Devon, Charles b1879 Devon, Harry b1884 Lenton, Kate b1886 Dunkirk, Edwin b1889 Carlton, Florence b1891 Carlton and Hilda b1898 Carlton. His mother Emma died in 1910 she was 58 yrs of age. Harry married his wife Kate Sarah Blount (born 1892 Derby) on 24th February 1908 at St Chads Church, Derby, they went on to have 3 children, Sidney b1908, Alfred b1909 and Harold b 1911 all were born in Derby , they lived at 60 Norman Street, Derby In the 1911 census Harry and his family are living at 60 Norman Street, Derby and are shown as Harry 27 yrs a painters labourer, he is living with his wife Kate Sarah 19 yrs and their children, Sidney Frank 3 yrs, Alfred 2 yrs and Harold Edwin 3 months of age. In the same 1911 census his widowed father and siblings are living at 5 Church Street, Carlton and are shown as John Woolacott 59 yrs a widow he is living with his children, Kate 25 yrs an elastic work in hosiery trade, Florence 23 yrs an elastic worker in hosiery trade and Hilda 13 yrs a cotton worker.

Military History

Private Harry Woolacott enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 1st battalion Sherwood Foresters Regiment. He landed in France on 4th November 1914. He died of wounds on 27th December 1914 at the clearing hospital Merville and is buried at Merville Communal Cemetery, France grave reference I.K.15
