Ralph Shepperson

Ralph Shepperson was born Ralph Hatherway on 25th July 1886 and was the son of Jane Hatherway. (he appears to have taken his mothers husband name of Shepperson after they had married but also continued using the name Hatherway) His mother Jane born in 1867 at Keyworth married Gervase (Jarvis) Shepperson in 1894 the marriage was recorded in the Shardlow Registration District. They went on to have the following children, Herbert b1897 Toton, Violet b1899 Carlton, William b1899 Carlton, George b1902 Carlton, Edwin Gervase b1904 Carlton, and Ida Kate b1908 Carlton. In the 1911 census his parents and siblings are living at 2 Worths Yard, Cavendish Square, Carlton and are shown as Gervase 45 yrs a general labourer, he is living with his wife Jane 44 yrs and their children, Herbert 14 yrs a lithographic printer, Violet 12 yrs a scholar, William 11 yrs a scholar, George 9 yrs a scholar, Edwin 7 yrs and Ida 3 yrs of age . Ralph Shepperson married Lucy Gash (born 10th February 1889) in 1911 at the Register Office at Sleaford they went on to have 3 children, Amy May born 14th November 1910, Ralph b1912 and died 1912 and Charlie born 6th September 1913, they lived at 1 Paceys Row, King Street, Newark. Following his death his widow now residing at 4 Cromwell Street, Nottingham (his in laws address) was awarded a pension of 18 shillings and 6 pence for herself and her 2 children. The family later lived at 77 Smedleys Row, Sleaford.
