Michael Peck was born in 1890 in Carlton and was the son of Henry a former frame work knitter and Emma Peck née Allcock of 22, Worth St., Carlton, Nottingham. His father Henry was born in 1857 in Carlton , his mother Emma Allcock was born in 1862 in Stoke Bardolph, they were married in 1881 , their marriage was recorded in the Basford Registration district, they went on to have 5 children all of whom were born in Carlton, they were Arthur b1882, William b1884, Florence b1886, Ada b1887 and Michael b1890. In the 1911 census the family are living at 20 Worth Street, Carlton and are shown as Henry 54 yrs an elastic bandage maker, he is living with his wife Emma 49 yrs and their children , William 27 yrs an unemployed printer and Michael 21 yrs a house painter , also at the address is Michael Allcock 83 yrs , grandfather
Private Michael Peck, served with the 17th Battalion Sherwood Foresters (Nottinghamshire & Derbyshire) Regiment (Welbeck Rangers), was killed in action on 19th August 1917. He is commemorated on Tyne Cot Memorial.
In memoriam published 19th August 1918 in the Nottingham Evening Post :- PECK. – In loving memory of Michael (Mick) Peck, of Carlton, who was killed in action August 19th, 1917.
