John William Musson

John William Musson was born in 1896 in Aisthorpe and was the son of William a labourer and Georgina Musson née Jallands of 176 Foxhill Road, Carlton, Nottingham. (it will be noted from the following two census that the relationship of his parents change from that of father and mother to grandfather and grandmother it is unsure at this stage which is correct) His father William was born in Retford in 1854 and his mother was born in 1857 in Sturton, Lincolnshire, they were married in 1877 their marriage was recorded in the Newark Registration District. In the 1901 census the family are living at Long Acre at Bingham and are shown as William 44 yrs a bricklayers labourer, he is living with his wife Georgina 44 yrs and their children Francis 24 yrs an agricultural labourer, John W 5 yrs and Ernest 3 yrs. in the 1911 census the family are living at 176 Foxhill Road, Carlton Nottingham and is shown as a 56 yrs a labourer at Gedling Colliery, he is living with his wife Georgina 54 yrs , and their daughter Esther 27 yrs (born Collingham) now referred to as his grandson John W 15 yrs a pony driver at colliery and also as his grandson Ernest13 yrs an errand boy, referred to as his granddaughter Ivy 2 yrs and as a visitor Joseph 6 yrs. In this census William states he has been married for 34 yrs and has had 7 children of whom 6 are still surviving.
