Family History

Son of John and Catherine Elizabeth Davey he was born in Nottingham in 1896. He had an older brother and a younger sister and brother. His father was a bricklayer and in 1901 the family were living at No 2 Denman Street, Radford in Nottingham. By 1911 the family had moved to No 2 Norland Road, Nottingham and John was working as a wood turner.

Military History

He enlisted at Nottingham and records say he was living in Carlton at this time. Killed in action he is buried at Euston Road cemetery, Colincamps, France. He was eligible for the Victory and British medals.

His surname was recorded as DAVY on the War Memorial but on all other records including his birth registration the surname is DAVEY
