Family History

Frank Ecob was born in 1898 at Upper Broughton and was the son of Charles Ecob a shoemaker and Addie Mary Ecob, née Poole of Upper Broughton. His father Charles was born in 1865 at Upper Broughton and his mother Addie Mary Poole was born in 1864 also in Upper Broughton, they were married on 11th November 1883 at Nottingham and went on to have 12 children all born Upper Broughton, Bertha b1884, Polly b1886, Thomas Fred b1887, Lillian b1889, Grace b1891, Annie b1893, Rose b1895, Frank b1898, Gladys b1900, Dinah b1903, Hilda b1905 and Jack b1907. In the 1911 census his parents and siblings are living at Upper Broughton and are shown as Charles 46 yrs a shoe maker, he is living with his wife Addie Mary 47yrs and their children, Gladys 10 yrs, Dinah 8 yrs, Hilda 6 yrs and Jack 4 years. In the same 191 census we find that Frank has moved out of the family home and is living at Market Overton, Oakham, he is living with his married sister Mary Gibson 25 yrs and her husband Arthur Gibson 27 yrs a saddler and their son Leonard Gibson 6 moths, Frank Ecob is shown as being 13 yrs of age and a brother in law

Military History

Private Frank Ecob enlisted at Nottingham and served with the 2nd battalion Lincolnshire Regiment. He was killed inaction on 21st March 1918 and having no known grave his name is commemorated on the Poziers Memorial, France.
