Family History

Tom Joseph was born in 1895 the son of Joseph a farmer and Mary. They had 2 daughters Kate and Mary and three sons Henry , John E and Tom Joseph. By the 1901 census the family was living at Littleborough. By the 1911 census the family was living at Manor Cottages, All Hallows Street, Ordsall. Mary had died by this time.

Military History

Tom enlisted in 1914 at Little Bowden, Northants soon after the outbreak of war. He served in the 7th Battalion Northampton Regiment . He first entered a theatre of war in France on 1st September 1915. He was killed in action on 11th March 1916 and is buried in Menin Road South Military Cemetery, Belgium grave reference I I 16
