Family History

George Eli was born in 1894 in Ordsall and was the only son of Eli a bricklayer and Lucy Baldock. In the 1911 census the family are shown living at 36 Wright Wilson Street,Retford, George is 16 years of age and is an engine cleaner employed by the Great Central Railway.

Military History

George enlisted in Retford and died on 17th October 1915 in Gallipoli. He is buried in Pieta Military Cemetery, Malta.
