Family History

Thomas was the son of Leonard , a woodman on the estate and Betsy Spencer of 29 Ranby Babworth. By 1901 Thomas had left home to live with farm foreman James Spalding and his wife at Canal Cottages Babworth. By 1911 Thomas’s mother Betsy Spencer had died and Thomas had moved back to the family home with his siblings Ada and Sydney and nephews Ivy and Winifred.

Military History

Thomas enlisted in Retford and served with the 3rd Depot Company Army Service Corps. He died in hospital in Bradford on 18th February 1917. He was buried in Babworth All Saints Churchyard Extension
