Family History

He was the son of Brigadier General Henry C.B, C.B.E and Edith Kate Denison. He was the brother of Charlotte Elinor, Edward Bridgeman, Stephen Charles, George Lyon, Wilfred Valentine and Harold A Denison. In 1891 the family lived at Babworth Hall along with their butler William Thompson and seventeen servants. In 1901 and 1911 they lived at Eaton Hall Nottinghamshire with ten servants. General and Mrs Denison later lived at 41 Evelyn Gardens Kensington London. Harry's effects of £916/11s/6d were left to his father (Probate London 22/10/1917).

Military History

Harry Denison served with 'O Bty Royal Horse Artillery. He fought at Gallipoli with 29th Division and in battles on the Somme, Messines, Vimy Ridge, Ypres and Langemarck.Dozinghem Military Cemetery Grave Reference: 4 F 1

Extra Information

Harry's brother Edward Bridgeman Denison DSO, MC (1880-1966) had a distinguished Great War military career commanding 1st Battalion King's Royal Rifle Corps between 3/6/1916 and 9/7/1917 when he was wounded. Another brother Harold Anthony Denison (1892-1961) also served with distinction winning the Military Cross. He was an electrical engineering student in 1911.
